4. Recognizing the Problem

There are certain warning signs that alert us to realize that students may be in danger of dropping out of school. Those signs should be taken seriously and react as soon as those are recognized. It helps if there are digital tools that gather information about absences that teachers and the school administrators can use. In Finland these kinds of tools are used in every school. Remember that Students are loyal to their Parents

Many students are open and trust us teachers a lot. It is always a good way to just ask student directly if there are problems in his or her personal life. We must remember that sometimes students are protecting their parents although that might hurt themselves. In Finland teachers are obliged to report into welfare system if we sense that everything is not right at home.
